WHAT ARE EZ SNAP CLIPS?

EZ Snap Mounting Clips are design specifically for processors and ball grid array (BGA) components. The clips attach the heat sink directly to the BGA component making use of the gap created by the ball grid array (BGA) between the component underside and PCB top surface. Therefore, the EZ Snap™ clips require no holes or modifications to the PCB. They also allow for easy rework of components with fast and easy installation and removal.

EZ Snap™ Clip comes in a variety of sizes and colors, depending on which heat sink is needed. The optional clip sizes particular to any heatsink are available on each product page. Unless otherwise indicated, all EZ Snap™ Clips are offered with the T710 or T725 Thermal Interface Material TIM. Some heat sinks, and fan heat sinks also have T558 as an option which is MULTIPHASE™ Thermal Interface Material. There are many types of heatsinks, and all major designs are used on our BGA heatsinks using the EZ SNAP™ Clip.

Mounting clips in assortment of colors

EZ Snap Clip Mounting

First center the EZ Snap clip alongside BGA chip. Tilt the EZ Snap and slip one side under the edge of BGA so that the lip is below the chip

Push down on far side of heatsink, and use EZ Touch clip tool to slide remaining lip under the BGA chip. Snap down to secure the clip onto the BGA chip.

EZ Snap Clip Removal

Slip the China Heat Sink Inc. clip tool or another thinly edged instrument into the pry holes on EZ Snap Clip.

Slightly tilt tool to dislodge clip. Taking care not to damage the heatsink plates or pins, remove the loosened EZ Snap clip and heatsink.

If the Thermal interface material is stuck to the the BGA Chip, carefully apply heat to the heatsink, and slowly twist off the heatsink using the EZ Touch clip tool or a straight edge as leverage between the heatsink blades or fins.

Please Note: BGA chips are very fragile, so extreme care must be used when removing a heatsink from a device.
